Every casino term you'll come across, explained in plain English.

Bankroll
The total amount of money a player has dedicated to gambling. Smart players manage their bankroll separately from regular finances.
Bonus Code
A short alphanumeric code entered at the casino cashier to unlock a specific promotional offer.
C
Cashback
A percentage of net losses returned to the player, typically as bonus or real money, over a set period.
Comp Points
Loyalty points earned through wagering that can be redeemed for cash, bonuses or VIP perks.
D
Deposit Match
A bonus that matches the player's deposit at a set percentage, e.g. a 100% match doubles the deposit.
F
Free Spins
Spins on a slot game awarded by the casino at no cost. Winnings are usually subject to wagering.
G
Game Contribution
The percentage of each bet on a specific game that counts toward bonus wagering. Slots usually contribute 100%; table games much less.
H
Hit Frequency
How often a slot delivers a winning combination. Higher hit frequency means more frequent (but usually smaller) wins.
House Edge
The mathematical advantage the casino has over the player on a given game, expressed as a percentage.

Instant EFT
A South African payment method that lets players send money directly from their bank account in real time.

Jackpot
A large prize, often progressive, that grows with each bet placed across a network of casinos.

KYC
Know Your Customer — the identity verification process casinos must complete before processing withdrawals.

Live Dealer
Casino games streamed in real time from a studio with a human dealer or croupier.
Loose Slot
A slot machine with a higher than average RTP that pays out more frequently.
M
Maximum Bet
The largest single bet allowed under bonus terms. Exceeding it can void winnings.
Maximum Cashout
A cap on how much a player can withdraw from a bonus, regardless of how much they've won.
Minimum Deposit
The smallest deposit accepted at the casino or required to claim a bonus.

No Deposit Bonus
A bonus credited to the player without requiring any deposit, usually in exchange for registering an account.
P
Payline
A line across the reels of a slot machine on which matching symbols pay out.
Progressive Jackpot
A jackpot that grows every time the game is played and is not won. Networked progressives can reach millions of rand.
R
Reload Bonus
A deposit bonus offered to existing players to encourage repeat deposits.
RTP
Return to Player — the long-term theoretical percentage of bets a game pays back to players. Higher is better.
S
Sticky Bonus
A bonus that cannot itself be withdrawn — only winnings generated from wagering it can be cashed out.
V
Variance / Volatility
How risky a slot is. High-variance slots pay rarely but big; low-variance slots pay often but small.
W
Wagering Requirement
The number of times a bonus (and sometimes deposit) must be wagered before winnings can be withdrawn.
Welcome Bonus
The bonus package offered to new players. Often spread across the first few deposits.
Wild Symbol
A slot symbol that substitutes for other symbols to help form winning combinations.
